A little back story:
A couple of years ago when I was at my Grandmothers house, I saw a huge vase of sunflowers. It turned out that her neighbor planted a field of Sunflowers and had been doing so for several years, but they thought that year would be the last. At the time, not engaged or even close to being, I thought it would be a cute idea to take engagement pictures in a Sunflower field. Over the years I would jokingly say maybe this is the year they would have to plant these sunflowers. On February 16, 2019, I got engaged. So, she asked them if they could plant this sunflower field that summer. They finally bloomed the last weekend of June. It was time to take the pictures! Since sunflowers bloom for only three weeks, my photographer was not able to take the pictures. So my grandmothers took our "pre" engagement pictures!
If someone in your family has a professional camera or a phone that takes great pictures, you should get them to take your engagement pictures or do a test run. Ramtin and I had no idea what we were doing or how to pose. (That is where a real photographer comes in handy.) So, I went to Pinterest to get some inspiration on poses and engagement picture outfits. I feel like this pre-shoot got us comfortable posing together in front of a camera. It also enlightened us on what outfit looks best, how to be romantic for pictures, and Texas summers are hot for picture taking. I will not be posting the pictures for our save-the-date. But as soon as I send those out, check out my Insta for those pictures!
In this "pre"-shoot, I choose three different outfits.
Outfit 1: Casual- A cute top, jean skirt and Converses, all from Dillard's. The necklace throughout the shoot I am wearing is from Kohl's. It is from the Lauren Conrad Collection. Earrings are studs from Altar'd State.
Outfit 2: Cute and Flirty- An above the knee dress with a keyhole cut out from Dillard's, paired with heels from DSW.
Outfit 3: Formal- A maxi dress from Dillard's, paired with the same heels from DSW.
I mainly did these three because I wanted to see what looked best in pictures for my engagement shoot with my photographer. So we will not be wasting precious time changing clothes. In my opinion, I would go with a casual and formal option!
Without further a do, here are our "pre" engagement pictures in the sunflowers!
